Current Application Process (Closed to new applicants)

Civil Service will be administering the written civil service examination for Fire-Rescue Officer Trainee on March 13^th, 2008.
The application process has changed to an on-line format. For more information on this process, click on the “Recruiting” link.
The application period will be from January 13^th, 2008 to February 1^st 2008.
Please start requesting all of your official transcripts for colleges/universities attended-(no photocopies).
Military personnel please start requesting your (DD214s) for submission.
Transcripts and DD214s should be submitted to Civil Service for review.
Civil service will need ample time to review all submitted paperwork and you must submit your on-line application during the application acceptance period.

Minimum Requirements:

Forty-five (45) semester credit hrs., with a gpa of (C) 2.0 or greater from an accredited college or university (excluding developmental courses)
Sixty (60) semester credit hrs., with a gpa of (C) 2.0 or greater for Fire Inspector.
Minimum of four (4) years of active service in the Armed Forces of the United States and received an "honorable discharge" will substitute for the entire college education.
Must be at least eighteen years of age to apply and cannot be 36 years of age by the time of the written civil service exam.
Valid Texas Drivers License with a good driving record.
Pass the Departments Physical Ability Test.
Vision (20/40 in one eye & 20/100 in other eye correctable to 20/20 and 20/40)
Weight within 25% of ideal limits.
Satisfactory employment record.
Free from use of controlled substances or excessive use of alcohol.
Must not have been convicted of any serious crime and/or have criminal charges pending.
