The Department employs an "All Hazards" response approach to meeting the needs of the visitors and citizens of Dallas in the areas of fire, medical, hazardous materials, technical rescue as well as other specialty team services designed to keep you safe. The Department's leadership seeks to maximize coverage while minimizing response time across the City of Dallas with its existing personnel and equipment. Evaluation of resource deployment is ongoing based on response data. Fire, EMS and other emergency fleet units are strategically deployed based on this data. As it relates to EMS specifically, although an EMS transport unit is not assigned to every one of our 57 fire stations, ALL fire engines are staffed with paramedics that can respond and begin emergency medical treatment. Citizens can rest assured that our paramedic staffed engines have the appropriate personnel and equipment necessary to begin medical interventions while EMS transport units are en route to the scene of their emergency. This deployment model actually enhances our response capability and benefits our citizens.
