Water Rescue

The Purpose of the water rescue program is to provide specially trained resources that will be available to complement existing resources in affecting the rescue or recovery of victims from moving or stationary bodies of water. The water rescue program is divided into three separate entities consisting of:

  • Swiftwater Rescue
  • Flat Water Boat Companies
  • Marine 1 (Lake Ray Hubbard)

In addition, the water rescue program provides assistance outside City of Dallas boundaries, as resources allow. The dynamic, high risk nature of water incidents necessitates the need for a team comprised of individuals who have specialized training and equipment necessary to perform water rescue or recovery. Water rescue teams utilize the method of rescue that allows for the highest potential for success and the lowest risk to rescuers.

Staffing for the Department's water assets each day are;

  • Six (6) Swiftwater technicians
  • Two (2) flat water boat members at each station
  • Four (4) Marine 1 certified members
